Troubleshooting
The following are the problems most commonly experienced by MSN2Go users. If you are having an issue that is not covered here or have found a bug, please e-mail me and let me know.
- When I click the link to open MSN2Go, a blank window (perhaps with an "X" on it) pops up and nothing else happens.
You probably don't have Java installed. Click here to learn how to install it.
-
MSN2Go loads fine, but I get "Connection lost" when I try to sign in.
- If you are a new user, try checking the HTTP checkbox. This allows MSN2Go to work through most firewalls and proxy servers.
- The MSN network itself may be down: Check the MSN Messenger network status. If the network is experiencing difficulties, MSN2Go will work again as soon as Microsoft resolves the problem on their end. (Note that Microsoft is rather slow at updating the status page, so it may momentarily claim that all is fine when it really isn't.)
- MSN2Go may be temporarily down for maintenance, in which case it should come back up in a few minutes.
- MSN2Go may be blocked at your school or workplace.
- If you are an existing user and have been unable to sign in for over an hour, please e-mail me and let me know—there may be something wrong that I'm not aware of.
